01Who we are

Joyride, Inc. ("Joyride," "we," "us," or "our") is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this Privacy Policy. Joyride is a Florida corporation that operates a rideshare marketplace connecting Riders with independent Drivers.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.

02Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

When you create an account, request a ride, or use the Joyride Platform, you provide us with information including:

  • Identity and contact: your first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, username, password, and profile photo.
  • Driver-specific: driver's license, vehicle registration, vehicle insurance, vehicle photos, vehicle make/model/year/color, background-check authorization, tax-reporting information (for U.S. Drivers, a W-9 or comparable), and payout account details.
  • Payment information: the payment method you use to pay for rides (processed and stored by our payment processor — Joyride does not store full card numbers).
  • Ride information: pickup and drop-off locations, route, ride time, fare, tip amount, ratings, in-app chat messages, and feedback you submit about a ride or another user.
  • Communications: the content of your messages to Joyride support, surveys, and any other communications you send us.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and app: device model, operating system version, app version, language, IP address, mobile network, time-zone setting, and crash reports.
  • Usage: screens you view, features you use, search queries, click and scroll patterns, and how long you spend on each screen.
  • Location: precise and approximate location while you use the Joyride Platform — see Section 6 (Location information).
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy and Section 5.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Background-check providers (for Drivers): the results of motor-vehicle-record and criminal-background checks we are required to obtain.
  • Payment processors: confirmation of card authorization, charge results, and dispute notices.
  • Other Joyride users: if another user gives us feedback or ratings about you, or reports a safety incident.
  • Public sources: for fraud prevention or to verify identity, we may consult publicly available records.

03How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the Joyride Platform — including matching Riders with Drivers, calculating fares, processing payments, and operating ratings and feedback;
  • verify your identity, eligibility, and (for Drivers) compliance with licensing, insurance, and background-check requirements;
  • communicate with you — including transactional notifications, customer-support responses, and marketing messages you have not opted out of;
  • monitor and improve safety, including investigating incidents, suspected fraud, and violations of our policies;
  • personalize the experience — for example, surfacing favorite Drivers or remembering recent destinations;
  • comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting, response to subpoenas and court orders, and cooperation with law-enforcement requests;
  • enforce our Terms of Service and protect the legal rights of Joyride and others; and
  • develop new products and features and conduct analytics and research.

04How we share information

We share personal information in the following circumstances:

4.1 With other Joyride users

To Drivers: we share a Rider's first name, profile photo, ratings, pickup and drop-off addresses, and in-app chat messages. To Riders: we share a Driver's first name, profile photo, ratings, vehicle make/model/color, license plate, and in-app chat messages. We do not share your phone number, email address, last name, or precise account-level identifiers with other users. In-app voice or messaging features may use a masked relay number.

4.2 With service providers

We share personal information with vendors that perform services on our behalf — for example, payment processing (Stripe), mapping and routing (Google Maps), cloud hosting, analytics, customer support, communications delivery (email, SMS, push), background-check providers (for Drivers), and identity verification. These providers are contractually limited to using personal information only as necessary to provide their services to us.

4.3 For safety and legal reasons

We may share personal information with law-enforcement, regulators, insurers, courts, or other third parties when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to (a) comply with applicable law or legal process, (b) protect the safety of any person, (c) address fraud or security issues, or (d) protect Joyride's rights or property.

Insurance and telematics. To obtain and maintain insurance for the Joyride Platform and its vehicles, we share information with our insurers and their underwriters — including trip records (such as city of trip, start and stop times, and mileage), driver and vehicle information, vehicle telematics and telemetry data (such as driving-behavior, system-engagement, and crash-detection data), and incident and claims information. This may include recurring or automated data feeds to our insurer for underwriting, pricing, and claims purposes.

4.4 In a business transaction

If Joyride is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

4.5 With your consent

We share personal information with other third parties when you direct us to or otherwise consent.

We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the sense those terms are used in California, Colorado, or other U.S. state privacy laws.

05Cookies and tracking

We and our service providers use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to operate the Joyride Platform, remember your preferences, measure performance, and detect fraud. See our Cookie Policy for details and your choices.

06Location information

Location is core to a rideshare marketplace. With your permission, we collect precise location from your device while you are using the Joyride Platform. For Riders, this lets us show nearby Drivers, estimate fares, and route the trip. For Drivers, this lets us dispatch ride requests, route to pickup and drop-off, and verify that the ride was actually performed.

Drivers may also be asked to share location while the Joyride Driver app is in the background — for example, to keep receiving ride requests when the app is not in the foreground. You can change location permissions in your device settings at any time. Disabling location will prevent core parts of the Joyride Platform from working.

07Your choices

  • Account information: you can view and update most account information directly in the Joyride app or the joyride.cool website.
  • Marketing communications: you can opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe link, and out of marketing SMS by replying STOP. Transactional messages — ride receipts, security notices, and account messages — continue while your account is active.
  • Push notifications: you can disable push in your device settings.
  • Location: you can change location permissions in your device settings.
  • Account closure: email support@joyride.cool to close your account. We retain some information after closure as described in Section 9.

08U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws — including California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), and others. These rights may include:

  • the right to know what personal information we collect about you;
  • the right to access a copy of your personal information;
  • the right to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • the right to delete personal information, subject to exceptions;
  • the right to opt out of certain processing, including "sales" and "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising (as noted above, we do not engage in either); and
  • the right to be free from discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@joyride.cool with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We may verify your identity by asking you to sign in to your account or by other reasonable means. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our denial.

09Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations (including tax, insurance, and safety record-keeping), resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and detect fraud. Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained indefinitely. When we no longer need personal information, we delete or de-identify it.

10Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information — including encryption in transit, access controls, and security monitoring. No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your account password and any verification codes confidential.

11Children

The Joyride Platform is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@joyride.cool and we will delete it.

12International users

Joyride is operated from the United States and primarily serves users in the United States. If you access the Joyride Platform from outside the United States, you understand that your personal information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice (such as an email or in-app banner). Your continued use of the Joyride Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
