Community Guidelines

Effective: May 21, 2026 · Last updated: May 21, 2026

Joyride is a marketplace built on respect — between Riders and Drivers, between Drivers, and between Drivers and the cities they work in. These guidelines describe what we expect, what gets you warned, and what gets you removed.

01Who these apply to

These Community Guidelines apply to everyone who uses the Joyride Platform — Riders, Drivers, anyone accompanying a Rider, and anyone interacting with another user through Joyride. Where specific rules apply to one side of the marketplace (for example, Driver responsibilities at pickup), we say so. Where they apply to everyone, we use "you."

These guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. Violating them can lead to warnings, ride refusals, account suspension, or permanent removal from the Joyride Platform.

02Treat each other with respect

Joyride works because both sides show up in good faith. Be polite. Greet the other person. Use the name on the profile. Keep conversation appropriate. Avoid topics — religious, political, or otherwise — that the other person hasn't invited.

We do not tolerate verbal abuse, name-calling, shouting, racial or ethnic slurs, sexual comments, threats, or intimidation. We do not tolerate physical contact that isn't invited.

03No discrimination

Joyride does not tolerate discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, military status, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. See our Anti-Discrimination Policies for the full rules and consequences.

04Safety first

Drivers: arrive at pickup in the vehicle on your profile, drive sober, follow traffic laws, use child-safety seats where required by law (Joyride does not provide them), and never drive while using your phone in a way that is unsafe or illegal.

Riders: wear your seat belt, follow the Driver's reasonable requests about safety (for example, where to sit), don't distract the Driver, and don't ask the Driver to break traffic laws.

If either party feels unsafe at any time during the ride, they may end the ride and contact Joyride support or, in an emergency, local emergency services.

05No drugs, weapons, or open alcohol

  • No open alcohol containers in the vehicle.
  • No illegal drugs. No using or transporting illegal drugs while in a Joyride vehicle. No Driver may use drugs or alcohol that impair driving — at any blood level — while on the Joyride Platform.
  • No weapons in the vehicle, regardless of any concealed-carry permit, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • No smoking or vaping in the vehicle.

06Honest profiles and ratings

Use a real name and a real photo of yourself. Drivers: use a clear photo of the actual vehicle you drive. Don't share your account with anyone else. Ratings and feedback should reflect the actual ride — don't rate to punish lawful conduct, don't rate to retaliate for a real safety report, and don't trade favorable ratings for anything of value.

07Property and cleanliness

Drivers: keep the vehicle clean, in good repair, and free of obvious safety hazards. Riders: leave the vehicle as you found it. Damage caused by a Rider — including spills that require professional cleaning — may result in a damage fee charged to the Rider's payment method, in addition to any other consequences.

08Service animals and accessibility

Drivers must transport Riders with service animals — see our Service Animal Policy. Drivers must also accommodate Riders with disabilities and assistive devices to the extent the vehicle reasonably permits — see our Accessibility Policy. Refusing a ride for these reasons is grounds for immediate deactivation.

09Reporting and what happens next

If something goes wrong — a safety issue, a violation of these guidelines, or anything else — report it through the in-app support flow or by emailing support@joyride.cool. In an emergency, call local emergency services first, then report to Joyride.

When we receive a report, we may contact you for more information, review ride records (including GPS and chat), pause one or both accounts while we investigate, and decide on an outcome that may range from a warning to permanent removal. Safety reports involving alleged violence, sexual misconduct, or harassment are handled under our Policy Against Sexual Assault, Misconduct, and Harassment.

10Enforcement

Joyride may, in its sole discretion, take any of the following actions for violations of these Community Guidelines or the Terms of Service:

  • warn the user;
  • remove specific content;
  • temporarily limit access to the Joyride Platform;
  • impose a damage, cleaning, or other reasonable fee;
  • permanently deactivate the account; or
  • refer the matter to law enforcement.

We try to give context whenever we take an enforcement action, but we reserve the right to act without prior notice when we believe urgent action is needed to protect safety, prevent fraud, or comply with the law.
