01In an emergency

Call emergency services first.

If you are in immediate danger or have just been assaulted, call 911 (or your local emergency number) before contacting Joyride. If you are inside a Joyride vehicle and feel unsafe, ask the Driver to stop in a well-lit, public place and exit the vehicle. The in-app support flow includes a direct link to emergency services.

02Zero tolerance

Sexual assault, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and any form of physical or sexual violence are unacceptable on the Joyride Platform. Anyone who commits these acts will be permanently deactivated from the Joyride Platform. Joyride cooperates with law enforcement to the extent legally permitted.

03What's prohibited

The following — among other conduct — is prohibited and is grounds for immediate, permanent deactivation:

  • any non-consensual sexual contact, sexual touching, or sexual penetration of any kind;
  • any attempt at non-consensual sexual contact;
  • indecent exposure or masturbation in the vehicle;
  • requests for sexual favors, sex, or "dates," whether explicit or implied;
  • sexual comments about the other person's body, appearance, clothing, or behavior;
  • unwanted physical contact of a sexual or affectionate nature — including hugging, kissing, stroking, or touching;
  • showing, sending, or sharing sexually explicit images, video, or messages;
  • repeated and unwanted contact attempts through the Joyride Platform or outside of it (including DMs to social-media accounts you obtained through a Joyride ride);
  • stalking, including following the other person home or to a workplace;
  • using the Joyride Platform to facilitate or arrange any of the above; and
  • any other physical or sexual violence prohibited by law.

Consent matters. Consent must be freely given, informed, ongoing, and specific. Silence, intoxication, fear, or a power imbalance does not equal consent.

04No retaliation

We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports a violation of this policy in good faith. Retaliation — including threats, intimidation, or revenge ratings — is itself a violation and is grounds for permanent deactivation.

05How to report

You can report a safety incident in any of the following ways. None of these requires you to have a police report first.

  • Use the in-app "report a problem" flow on the ride in question.
  • Tap the in-app safety / emergency button (when available in your market).
  • Email support@joyride.cool.
  • Call or text the in-app support channel — when available — for time-sensitive reports.

Include whatever you can remember and feel safe sharing: the ride ID or date and time, the other user's name as it appeared in the app, the vehicle (if a Driver is involved), where the incident happened, and a description of what happened. We will not penalize you for an incomplete report. You can amend or add to a report later.

06What happens after a report

  • Joyride acknowledges the report.
  • We may suspend one or both accounts during the investigation, depending on what the report describes.
  • A trained safety specialist reviews the report, examines available ride records (including GPS, chat, and ratings), and may follow up with you for additional information.
  • We reach an outcome — which may range from a warning, to feature restrictions, to permanent deactivation, to a law-enforcement referral.
  • For reports against a Driver, the outcome we reach is the outcome that gets enforced — regardless of how the Driver characterizes the incident afterward.

Reaching out for help does not put you at risk. We do not charge you for support time, we do not condition help on a police report, and we do not require you to identify yourself to the other party.

07Confidentiality

We treat reports confidentially to the extent reasonably possible while still investigating effectively and complying with law. We may need to share information with law enforcement, regulators, insurers, or our outside counsel — and in some cases, with the user who is the subject of a report, so that they can respond. We will not publicly identify a person who reports a safety incident.

08Cooperation with law enforcement

Joyride cooperates with law enforcement consistent with applicable law. When law enforcement requests information about a specific incident through a valid legal process, we provide what is required.

You retain the right to file your own police report. Joyride does not require you to involve law enforcement to take action on the Joyride Platform — our internal safety process is independent.
